Freed and Not for Sale

Narendra* is from a small village of day laborers who struggle to make a living. Their village has no roads or water facilities, families live in mud houses. There is no hospital nearby and most of the residents do not read or write.

When Narendra’s family heard about the new Mukti Orchard Project, there was much curiosity. Narendra is an orphan living with his uncle who struggled to feed the family. Out of desperation, he considered selling Narendra because of his extreme poverty.

However, God had a different plan for Narendra.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Narendra came from his village, about 10 hours away, to be one of the first children at the new home. His life has changed dramatically because of this opportunity. Where he once scrounged for food, he now has nutritious meals in a family setting. Once he had no hope of receiving an education, now he goes daily to a local school. His uncle could not provide on his meager salary but now Narendra has a home where his basic needs are provided. Although he is an orphan, he is cared for by loving houseparents who look after all of the children at the Orchard Project.

Narendra was freed from poverty and hopelessness. Pray for Narendra – that he will grow strong and pursue the right things in life. Also, pray for the houseparents as they seek to love and care for these needy children.
